Zero Balancing (ZB) is a hands-on bodywork system that aligns energy and physical structure in the body. Gentle and non-invasive, ZB is performed with the client lying face up and fully clothed on a treatment table. A full-body session takes about 30 to 40 minutes to complete. It can give you a sense of fluidity that allows you to cope with things more resiliently and enjoy life.
What Does Zero Balancing Help?
- Symptoms of blocked or excessive energy – headaches, back pain, fatigue, depression
- Problems related to stress – tension, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety
- Enhanced quality of life – relaxation, feelings of contentment, ease, mental clarity, well-being
How Does Zero Balancing Work?
ZB goes beyond conventional Western bodywork therapies because it incorporates Eastern concepts of energy and healing. The originator of ZB, Fritz Smith, M.D., studied Five Element acupuncture and was deeply influenced by it. He created ZB by integrating the principles of Five Element acupuncture and osteopathy. By aligning energy and structure in the body, ZB creates a clear, strong field of energy that releases imprints of trauma and stress. The ZB practitioner uses touch to evaluate where the energy and structure are blocked or disturbed, and then balances it as needed. ZB pays particular attention to the skeleton and to the energy held in bone, because these are the deepest and strongest currents in the body.
Zero Balancing & Five Element Acupuncture
ZB is an excellent complementary therapy with Five Element acupuncture, because it works on the same principles: treating the whole system, and treating the root, not just the symptoms. Many conditions — musculoskeletal pain, anxiety, post-traumatic stress — respond more quickly when a few ZB sessions are included along with the acupuncture treatment plan.
