Hallowe’en, All Saints Day and Day of the Dead …What better way to honor the days than by touching the living energy of the skeleton? Zero Balancing is a system of hands-on healing that works with the energy and structure of bone.
Eleven living souls, all talented body workers and healers, came together in Portland, Oregon for an advanced level class, Freely Movable Joints, October 30 to November 2, 2025. We learned some rich, new ways of working with the joints and extremities – hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists, to name a few. We also had a few tricks and treats, and remembered our master teacher.
Fritz Smith, M.D., the founding teacher and creator of Zero Balancing, passed away a little over a year ago. His gifts are still very present for all of us. To honor his presence, we created a Day of the Dead altar, bringing him into the room as we worked.
We also celebrated with traditional Mexican pan de muerto from La Casa de Mama, Portland’s own vegan Mexican pop-up bakery!
And – oh yes – the dancing skeleton made a special appearance on Hallowe’en!
As one student put it: “An amazing class that reviewed the basics. I learned many new fulcrums to help my patients right away with shoulder, knee, hip, and TMJ issues.”
Please stay tuned for Zero Balancing classes coming up in 2026:
